Florida Tourist Attractions
Attractions in Central Florida
The Sunshine State saw its first theme parks emerge in the 1930's. With over 75 million visitors each year , Florida is the top travel destination in the world. Florida tourist attractions include 1800 miles of coastline, more than 1250 golf courses, over 20 theme parks, 17 zoos and a couple dozen water parks!

Warm weather, sunshine, palm trees and with no city farther than 75 miles from the coast, the entire state is paradise.
My favorite vacation destinations are the great tourist attractions in Orlando, Florida and the central Florida area. When you are looking for things to do in central Florida, consider these great attractions and check out our web pages with detailed reviews:
- Universal Studios Theme Park
- SeaWorld Florida
- Busch Gardens Tampa Florida
- Kennedy Space Center
- Islands of Adventure Theme Park
- and there are plenty more!
Travel anywhere you want throughout the United States, but in my book, you just can't beat the attractions in central Florida.
Universal Studios Theme Park
After a long day of driving and a night tossing and turning from anticipation, we were super excited to see this sign on the first official day of our Florida family vacation!
Universal Parks and Resorts has two world class tourist attractions in Orlando Florida: Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure Orlando.
Universal Studios theme park lets you "Ride the Movies" with great attractions like Twister, Men in Black and Revenge of the Mummy.
Islands of Adventure Orlando is a completely different theme park from Universal Studios Florida. There are 7 islands for families to explore with The Wizarding World of Harry Potter being the newest addition to the park!
SeaWorld Florida
SeaWorld started as an idea to build an ocean-themed restaurant in the California area that would not only serve food, but would be dedicated to education, research and conservation.
The idea evolved and the first SeaWorld theme park opened in San Diego in 1964 with SeaWorld Florida opening 9 years later.
SeaWorld adventure parks offers a glimpse into a world that might otherwise never be seen. The up close and personal experiences that millions of visitors experience at the marine parks like SeaWorld Florida have increased public awareness and environmental activism.
In 2009, SeaWorld Orlando FL entertained and educated almost 6 million visitors with a variety of thrill rides, animal exhibits and shows featuring a variety of animals. Be sure to visit Stingray Lagoon and Dolphin Cove where you will have a chance to pet and feed the animals!
Busch Gardens Tampa Bay
Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is one of the most popular theme parks in the United States. Opening in 1959, the park offered free bird shows that guests could enjoy after touring the Anheiser Busch Brewery. The park also housed many of Anheiser's famous Clydesdale horses.
Today, Busch Gardens Tampa FL is home to almost 3,000 animals and showcases 65 acres where African animals roam free.
Check out our full page on Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. This park has something for animal lovers and thrill seekers alike. You'll find some of the best roller coasters in the world here!
Islands of Adventure Theme Park
When your looking for attractions in Florida, Orlando is the number one destination and the Islands of Adventure Theme Park is just one of the many reasons millions of tourists flock to Orlando, FL each year!
This year Universal Islands of Adventure is debuting a Harry Potter Theme Park Florida attraction, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. We just missed the opening for this new Florida tourist attraction, but did get to see a lot of the construction in progress (which was pretty darn cool.)
I'll definitely have to make another trip to Orlando, Florida so that I can add some additional information on the new Harry Potter amusement park area to the web page!
